Beach Day Beauty Routine

Beach Day Beauty Routine

As you guys know, I just celebrated my 30th birthday a few days ago and we celebrated by heading to the beach! We are lucky enough to live about an hour away from a quiet beach, so that’s where you can typically find us Memorial Day through Labor Day. Today I want to share with you a bit about my summer beach time beauty routine.

UV Protection

Just like any outdoor activity, it’s important to protect yourself from any harsh elements. Where we live it’s always sunny and we are constantly reapplying sunscreen to keep our skin nourished and guarded from the sun’s harmful UV rays. After beginning to show signs of aging and after having kids, I find this to be more and more important to my beach day routine. I’m always sure to check the labels on the clothes I buy and try to shoot for sun protective clothing. When I can’t, I just make sure to apply my sunscreen before putting on my suit just to be super safe!

Hair Tips

Having long hair at the beach can sometimes be a hassle – with the wind blowing and the sun sucking out all the moisture. I always try to condition my hair really well before and after a beach or pool day. There are also several new products that provide UV protection for your hair. I either spray that on, or if I want to go for a full-out beach look, I add some sea salt spray for lots of texture.

Underarm Care

Aside from the obvious sun and hair care, it can be so easy to forget something like caring for your underarms when you’re relaxing and playing in the water. The only way I feel and stay fresh outside all day is with Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant, which is why I’ve partnered with Dove to share this post. It makes all the difference! Carrying and setting up beach gear, chasing kids and dogs, and then cleaning up is such workout in the heat. It can also be embarrassing and uncomfortable to get wet marks from sweating on your clothes. Seriously, who hasn’t been there? Well I have and it just feels gross. Often times we go out to dinner after a day at the beach and the last thing I want is to be stinky when we’re trying to enjoy dinner.

Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant offers 48 hour odor and wetness protection, plus it leaves my skin smooth and soft. It truly moisturizes your underarms, which is nice when the salty water and air of the beach can leave your skin extra dry. I also hate the sticky intolerable feeling that other deodorants can give you, that just turns to a wet feeling. Ugh, what’s the point?!

Final Touches

Lastly – I always bring some face wipes and moisturizer to apply to my face at the end of the day. It feels so good and is so needed after a sun soaked day. I have extra (non-sandy) towels in the car for a final wipe down, and a set of clean dry clothes.

Which of these beauty essentials and tips is your favorite? I’d love to hear your beauty tips for surviving a day in the sun in the comments below, thanks for stopping by!
