Styling a Bump in the Summer

Floral Overlay Dress ($29 and non-maternity) // Nude Strap Heels // Louis Vuitton Clutch // Free People Shades // Baublebar Necklace // Sugarfix by Baublebar Earrings // Bracelets

I’m working from bed today after a long, fun-filled weekend! My best friend of 18 years and her family came to visit us all the way from Indiana, and last week my baby brother got engaged to his longtime girlfriend! So needless to say after all the excitement I’m a little tired & taking it easy today – did you have a good weekend?

Today I’m sharing this gorgeous floral overlay dress that I’ve gotten so many compliments on. As I’ve said before, I was kind of dreading being 8 & 9 months pregnant right in the heart of summertime, but this dress is proving that being pregnant in the summer doesn’t have to be miserable! It is NOT maternity, I just sized up to a medium and there is still plenty of room. It’s insanely lightweight, not form fitted yet still flattering. Normally I’m not a fan of a midi-dress on my petite 5’2″ frame, but with the slip being short underneath I really felt like this dress gave me a little bit of length, extended even more with the nude heels.

While you can find really cute maternity out there, I still am feeling much more comfortable in regular sized clothes since I am so small naturally and tend to get swallowed by maternity clothes. If you are pregnant in this summer I would highly recommend light colored clothes with a loose or oversized fit. Dresses have certainly been my go to because they are so easy (and I don’t have to wear pants! ha) but if you do want to opt for shorts or a skirt, just look for those with elastic waistbands that can slide right under your belly and size up one depending on how far along you are! What do you guys think? Do you love maternity clothes or just sizing up in something you’d normally wear? Have a great week! xx

Still crying over the fact that they don’t have my size online, but I gotta head to the store and search the racks soon because I definitely need it! You look stunning!
