The Right Swimsuit for Your Body Type – With Save and Splurge Options!

secondvideo8

It’s almost officially summer which means we’ll all be spending lots of time outside. It can be easy to feel self-conscious when you have to strip down to your swimsuit for a dip in the pool or a day relaxing on the beach. So I’ve pulled together some of my favorite styles for every body type including a splurge option and a save option. If you’re looking for a suit to last you all season, I recommend opting for the splurge option since they tend to be much better quality and should hold up to multiple wears. If you want to change it up often, I’ve got good save options for you too!

This type would mostly describe my figure, and while you think there wouldn’t be anything to be self-conscious about, most people with this build have broad shoulders, slim to no hips, strong legs and a bum! Not sure if this is you? Think Jessica Alba, Hayden Panetierre, or Venus Williams.

Tie-waisted bottoms and bottoms with lots of pattern or embellishment can help create the illusion of curves. I love cheeky bottoms which show of the main curves I actually do have! For tops you also should opt for ruffles, or other embellishments and typically avoid bandeau style tops. Less coverage is best coverage if you’re looking to create the appearance of curves. Another great option is a one-piece with cutouts, ruffles, or bold patterns.

Splurge: This Mara Hoffman one-piece (left) has great pattern and the perfect cut out details to increase the appearance of curves.

Save: This floral pattern bikini with cutout details adds provides a little help and support for up top, and the patterned bottoms give illusions of wider hips.

Curvy girls like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, and Beyonce are perfect examples of this body type. If you were blessed with hips and a full chest then this is definitely for you. Be sure to look for swimsuits with color blocking, or high waists, and tops with good support.

Splurge: This color block one-piece (left) is perfect for accenting your waist and controlling your curves.

Save: This topshop bikini (right) is super budget friendly, and a great way to minimize hips while creating flattering shape.

If you’re apart of the IBTC like Kate Hudson, Kendall Jenner, and Rihanna, then you can pretty much pull off any type of top! If you’re wanting to enhance your bust appearance, look for pushups or padded tops. Triangle shaped tops are appealing, but you can also rock a bandeau top that not many other body types can! Patterns and textures such as ruffles can add the illusion of a larger bust.

Splurge: There is a lot of good going on in this strapless bikini top (left). The push up shape, colors, and pattern create the look of a larger bust.

Save: This suit is so flattering and adorable! The pattern and scallop edges are perfect for a small bust.

Calling all Katy Perrys, Sofia Vergaras, and Kate Uptons. Large chested babes need support! Underwires and adjustable straps are your best friends to help hold the girls in. If you want to minimize the appearance of your chest then stay away from bright and bold patterns, and look for solid colors.

Splurge: This Bikini (left) provides lot of support, and has wide straps to take some attention away from the chest.

Save: This sexy one-piece is gorgeous and helps support the girls and it’s budget friendly!

Pear Shaped girls tend to be narrower up top, and a little wider at the hips creating a pear shaped figure. When you have this body type, you want to look for a suit thats going to draw more attention to the top half of your body, lessening attention at the widest part. Think Adele, Kelly Clarkson, or Jennifer Love-Hewitt.

Splurge: I love this one-piece (left) for anyone with a pear shaped figure because its solid on the bottom and has a great pattern on top. The cutout detail adds an extra emphasis for your top half.

Save: This one-piece (right) with lattice detail brings the eye to the top half of the swimsuit. Perfect for minimizing the appearance of a larger bottom half.

Hope this helps you feel gorgeous and has you looking forward to swimsuit shopping! You can shop these suits below and some of my other favorites!
