Blogger Brief – with Morgan from Fashion Friesx

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): How long have you been blogging and what got you started?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): I’ve been blogging for a year and one month! I started fashionfriesx because of my love for fashion. I am often asked about my clothing and my style, so I figured I would start a fashion blog to showcase all of that. My friends were also always asking me for fashion advice & would send me pictures saying “can I wear this with this”, so I thought why not start my own blog. I also constantly followed other bloggers, and one day I was just like “hey, I can do this too”! Best decision EVER!

 

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): What’s the best advice you can give to someone who is just starting out in the fashion blogging world?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): Be true to yourself. It totally sounds cliché, but it’s my best advice. I feel like I had to begin to find myself over this past year, and I still am working on that every day. When I first started, I just wanted to be like other bloggers. If they were all wearing something that was a new trend, I thought I HAD to get it and post about it too. I’ve realized that staying true to myself makes a bigger impact on my followers. One other piece of advice is to not get discouraged. I will have days where I will get tons of new followers in one day, and then days where I will only get 5 new followers. Everyone’s blog grows differently, you just have to find out what works for you.

 

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): Where are your favorite places to shop & why?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): One of my newest favorite places to shop is at Vintage Love Boutique! They have really trendy & affordable clothing ! Almost Southern Boutique is also at the top of my list. It’s an Australian inspired boutique with a little bit of country! My favorite department store to shop at is Nordstrom. Moving to NYC was hard for me because there are literally NO Nordstrom’s here (except a Nordstrom Rack). Not sure what I would do without online shopping. Ha! I love Nordstrom so much because you can find a mix of high end and low end stuff & they have AMAZING Anniversary sales for every season which is when I purchase half of my wardrobe for the upcoming season.

 

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): What do you do for a living?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): I work in Finance at a Japanese Investment Bank in the equity research department. I’ve been doing this for 5 years now (woah)!

 

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): Do you have any pets?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): No pets for me. I am not an animal person at all – although I would love to borrow a really cute pet just for a blog picture. : )

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): What items do you splurge on and what items do you save on?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): I splurge A LOT, but I definitely have a good balance between splurging and saving. I will find really awesome boutiques that have cheaper clothing but still are a great quality. I will splurge a lot on shoes or bags, because I will get a lot more use out of them (example: my tan louboutins can be worn with any work dress, or when I go out for dinner)

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): What fashion blogger or bloggers do you look up to and why?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): Styled Snapshots – she is a friend of a friend and is the sweetest person! I always looked at other bloggers and wanted to start a blog, but once I saw someone that I somewhat knew was doing it and was so successful, it inspired me to actually start my own! I also look up to McKenna Bleu! She gave me some awesome tips when I was first starting out!! She was so helpful and her blog is great. I love how she always wears the brightest colors and is just so unique!

 

 

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): What are your favorite trends for this summer?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): Espadrille sandals are one of my favorite trends this summer. They look great with any summer outfit! Cropped tops and any OTS dresses are also big again this summer and I’m loving all of the ones I’ve seen so far!

 

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): What do you like to do for fun?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): Can I say blogging for this one? I can’t think of anything else more fun. I used to go shopping for fun, and now I am turning my blog into a hobby/hopefully a full time job one day. It’s hard work but I definitely have so much fun when I’m doing it!

(Stefanie/According to Blaire): What is your dream collaboration?

(Morgan/Fashion Friesx): My dream collaboration is to work with Wildfox. They have always been one of my favorite brands. They have such great vintage inspired clothing & their graphic sweatshirts have the BEST sayings & are super comfy!!!
