My Hair Care Routine – with Special tips for Blondies!

Lately I’ve been getting lots of questions about my hair so today I wanted to share with you some of my all time favorite hair products! I’m working on a few hair tutorials for you but until then, I’ll be telling you what I use and what I love about the products!

So I have a confession, I’m not a natural blonde! My true hair color is very dark (see roots above) and if you’re a fellow brunette you will know that it’s HARD to go blonde. Brown hair has natural red tones and blonde hair has yellow tones, so when brunettes try to go blonde, it’s likely the blonde color will pull a red tone appearing more yellow or orangey. I’ve been “blonde” for about 6 years now, and finally feel like I’m finally happy with my shade, and I’ll tell you how I did it!

First of all – invest in a good hair stylist. Boxes won’t cut it if you’re going from brunette to blonde, or even blonde to brunette. I’m never worried about what my hair is going to look like and I love it every single time, because I trust my stylist. Since achieving my perfect blonde, I know it’s important to use purple shampoo and conditioner, and trust me, I’ve tried lots. There are some great ones out there, but I have recently come to find my favorite – R&Co Sunset Blvd Blonde Shampoo  & Conditioner.

This shampoo and conditioner has a natural pigment that eliminates brassy tones and brightens your blonde. It also works for grey hair, toning it to be more silver without turning your hair purple. Ever since I started using this my hair looks bright and blonde! It’s a true must have for blondies.

After I get out of the shower and towel dry, I get right to some of my F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E products ever. I have been using Oribe’s Imperial Blowout Transformative Styling Creme, and let me tell you, it’s a miracle worker! I have fine hair, so it easily falls flat even if I blow dry it. The creme goes on your roots when your hair is damp, and you rub and work it through to your ends. When you blow dry your hair afterwards, the creme dries into a powder, giving you a killer straight from the salon blow out look! For best results, I separate my hair into layers, and blow dry sections at a time. If there’s one thing you get from this post – make it this!

Finally, before drying my hair I sometimes also use the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. I like this mostly for when I wear my hair straight, because it gives even more added volume. If I plan on curling my hair, it can be a little too much volume when mixing with the styling creme for my personal taste. I mostly use this spray as a dry shampoo. It adds volume and smells amazing!

For the days I just don’t feel like drying my hair, or pool days when my hair is a wet soggy mess I use Oribe’s Apres Beach Wave & Shine Spray. This also smells amazing, like you’re on a deserted island somewhere basking in the sun. You can use on wet or dry hair, and just let it go! Perfect beach tosseled hair. It’s full of oils and extracts so there isn’t the normal salty stiffness like other sprays.

I’ve always loved Oribe products, I was hooked when I first tried their Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse (not pictured) several months ago. When Abby at Bobby Cooper Salon in Indy showed me some of her new favorite products and they included Oribe, I was so excited to try them and review them here for you!

I’ll save styling for another day, but I’d love to know what styles you’d love to see! Waves, top knots, buns, or any other hair styles you’ve liked, I’d love to share with you how it do them. Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed my hair care routine!
